Big Sandy, TX- Looking Unto Jesus

Well, our gang just got back from spending an awesome week down in Big Sandy, TX for the ATI family conference. Our “cups” are full and running over! It was a blessed week with great speakers, fun fellowship, and life changing messages! J-C got to come this year after not being able to attend for 4 years!IMG_0001 We drove down Monday, and that evening we enjoyed our traditional Chinese restaurant with friends!

Monday night we went to watch the Wilson family and the Bontragers perform in a fun, God glorifying, and very amusing concert. =)

IMG_0004  Tuesday night David Gibbs spoke on prayer. This was hands-down the family favorite and comes highly recommended! Hopefully, in the near future you will be able to purchase the sessions from this years conference here.

Each evening we had a blast getting to have some friends over to our dorm for some great fellowship! (And snacks of course! =P ) *party*

~DSCN0251 The “5 musketeers”! We enjoyed getting in some fun sibling time! OH YEAH!

Wednesday we got to sing together…In Moments Like These medley.
It was pretty fun..once my knees stopped shaking. =)

Thursday evening ATI organized an ice-cream social! It was really fun getting to meet some new people, and getting to spend time with some old friends! Over-all it was an evening filled with “sweet” fellowship. hahaha.
(Ok, yeah.. that was kind of  lame.)DSCN0256DSCN0257

Bonding time in the mini-van!

Abbie: One of my highlights was a session by David and Priscilla Waller on Wednesday afternoon, they spoke on passion. “What occupies and consumes our time, money, decisions, feelings, thoughts or creative ability = our passions. Life is too short to live without an all-consuming passion for Jesus Christ. Don’t seek a position, family, marriage, name, etc. – SEEK JESUS CHRIST!!!”
This is something I’ve heard before, but it was a really good reminder for me. Another highlight was all the refreshing fellowship over the whole week. =)

Charity: This is always one of my favorite weeks in the whole year! All the fellowship, challenging messages, and like-mindedness… I can’t wait till next year! One of my favorite sessions was David Gibbs’s message on Prayer! It’s something the Lord really wanted me to focus on this year so this message was very encouraging and gave me a fresh look on the power and importance of prayer, and to see it as an invitation from Jesus to come into His presence and bring everything that is on our hearts to Him and to pray with faith specific prayers! Be a prayer warrior!

Maggie: Wow, what an amazing week! This year I was pretty disappointed that I didn’t get to do CI like I have done the previous two years.I decided since I was just now getting my health somewhat back to normal, I didn’t want to spend a long time re-cooperating again. But the Lord really blessed this week! One of my favorite sessions was one that Gabriel Cleator did on murmuring and  complaining. It must be very sad for God to listen to us- His creation-after He has given us SO many blessings –mainly Himself- and us ungrateful little wretches spend a lot of our time complaining about being ..“too hot”, “too cold”, “I’m hungry”, “I’m tired”. Like Gabe brought out, this is a sin, and grieves God’s heart! 1Thess. 5:18  “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Give thanks in everything not is some things, not in a lot of things, not in most things, in everything give thanks! The main thing that stood out was when Gabe said “Every irritation, is an invitation, to come into the presence of God with thanksgiving!” It was pretty funny because after his session, everyone stood up after 3 straight hours of no break because they were tight on time. We were all like.. “Wow, those were some great messages!”…”And I’m not going to complain that I’m hurting right now!” =D
(Oh, and by the way, God kinda sent me a little test for this. Just yesterday, I spent nearly ALL afternoon doing this blog post. And wouldn’t you know… I went to save it, and pushed the wrong button… and my whole afternoon’s work disappeared!! Like, it. was. NO .where! I was like, “Okay Lord, Thank you for this invitation, and I praise You for how you will grow me in this area, through this irritation!”)
I also enjoyed the great fellowship with friends! Looking forward to next year!!!

Carinna: I really enjoyed hanging out with family/siblings. And the fun fellowship with friends. One of my favorite sessions was David Gibb’s session on prayer…one of his points in his sermon “How to have power in prayer” was -You have to get clean. James 5:16b “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
1John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” "We know we are suppose to be clean before God but as long as we are cleaner than someone else we feel good about ourselves."
I’m comfortable where I’m at in my prayer, memorizing, witnessing. I’m fine with complaining…etc. as long as I don’t complain as much as someone else. So long as I’m better than someone else, I’m fine with not being totally clean and pure before God.
Matthew 5:48 Ephesians 4:13 Perfection is the standard. We are all in the process of being sanctified…part of that is getting clean…When is the last time you came before God and asked Him to cleans you from unrighteousness? Not comparing yourself to others but entirely to Him?

Benjamin: This year I did student sessions instead of Alert Cadets so I was a bit sad at first. But in the end it was very good for me.The main highlight of the conference was David Gibbs men’s morning session where he talked about being real and not acting the Christian walk. Which is something I have been struggling with. I guess I would say that there was a big heart change at the conference. I also got to ride with J-C from his house to Big Sandy and from Big Sandy to our house so I got to have a good brother talk!IMG_0007IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL!

After conference company…IMG_0086 Meeting new friends is a blessing!

The Dorninks that came to the conference stopped by our house for a couple of days.
Rapid Recall! SO.FUN.!IMG_3575IMG_3577
Well, we had a very blessed week! Hoping ya’ll did too!
I’d like to encourage you with the theme verse for this years conference:
Heb 12:2  “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

God WITH Us!

Have you ever been so busy that you can hardly keep up with yourself? Well that is how I felt a couple of weeks ago! You see the family that I babysit for just had another precious baby. He was in the hospital for 19 days which gave me the opportunity to stay at their house a TON to watch the younger children while the parents went back and forth to the hospital.

“Rented mother” was my new nickname for a couple of weeks, and let me tell ya, I’ve never felt so much like a mom before in my life! =) I was grateful to have my sisters trade in and out to help out as well. It was a very rewarding, exhausting, filled with fun moments, overwhelming, and overall, a great 19 days. DSCN0193

Two days before the baby got released from the hospital, I was at home reading some familiar verses in Psalm 139, only this time they stood out in a new way.

Thou knowest my downstitting and mine uprising…Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways…Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.”

What an amazing truth! The Lord had been with me this whole time; seen my every move, and gone through every moment with me. He was so much more aware of everything going on than I was. He had not been just watching me from heaven, He had been right there with me dwelling IN me!

Thinking back on these verses has been very encouraging and comforting. No matter where we are, where we’d like to be, or what we’ve just gone through – we must rest in Jesus who knows. He KNOWS your fears, he KNOWS your desires, and he is Trustworthy.

“…may He not be just a guest but rather an intimate companion in our day-to-day walk.” – Experiencing The Presence of GOD by A. W. Tozer

Is not the God of heaven, our Faithful Creator who sent his only begotten Son into the world to save us pitiful sinners, worthy of our love and complete trust? May He give us grace to trust Him more!DSCN0185

“God is here, and the nearness of God that we talk about is not one of distance, it has to do with trust, love and intimacy of heart.” – Experiencing The Presence of GOD by A. W. Tozer

Delight in His presence with you today! =)
