Hunting success

Dec
30

It’s a little bit easier to sit out in the woods all day if you have a
beautiful rustic view!20161125_154817

The look the neighbor’s cows give you when you’re walking to your stand.  : )
“Are you from a different planet?”

Wide open skies.

But even better than beautiful scenery is when you get to bring home some meat.
Benjamin got a doe and buck. Dad shot a buck. 20161123_081600

Carinna shot a hog that we didn’t butcher, and a small buck that was limping.
IMG_204220161125_091324_1

These three went looking for a hog Maggie had shot at when it was getting dark.
They didn’t find it. Each year more and more hogs are coming around.
IMG_8223

A whole lot of team work goes into the process of field to freezer!
IMG_2048IMG_2080

Carinna saw a buck on the side of the road on the way to work one morning.
It was below freezing, so she got permission from the game warden and we were able to salvage some of the meat off of him. It was a new experience for the Fenns. Homeschooling at its finest. : )

Yummy supper with fresh, never frozen deer meat!

We are so thankful to get the opportunity to hunt on Grandpa’s land.
And for a full freezer this year!

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

November recap and a glimpse of Christmas

Dec
16

These are some of the last things from our fall garden before we finally had a freeze on November 18th.20161118_172935_thumb2

Maggie is thoroughly enjoying studying to be an EMT.
IMG_2103

Most of us have been assessed more than once in the past month. The assessments are getting more fun though…the first time she told us what we could do.(boring)
Now we get to make up our own ailments! : ) (Poor Maggie)20161111_195130

Evan tagged along to work on sighting in a rifle. He was super excited
to get to ride on the tractor!
20161101_174501

November is “picking up pecans” season for Grandpa!
20161207_114727

I got to have a camp-over with my girls one night. They were a great help checking
on the bees and winterizing them. Then we got to sleep out in the camper.
IMG_2040_thumb3

We had hot chocolate, colored adult coloring pages, laughed, talked, talked,
talked, and made memories. It was a whole lot of fun!
IMG_2030_thumb2

We are always grateful to hangout with these 3 little guys. We babysat Evan and Ransom for a week when all the couples went to a marriage conference.
20161112_091739_thumb20161030_171717_thumb2

Maggie was thrilled and honored to be a bridesmaid in a good friends wedding!
It is definitely a strange feeling to have your friends getting married…
…I mean, we aren’t that old, are we?

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Aunt Jan’s house this year!

Several of the fabulous cooks!
IMG_2055

Working hard on a Thanksgiving themed crossword puzzle.
I think Charity got it done in the fastest time. (that’s no surprise)
IMG_2050

We are so blessed!
IMG_2065IMG_2051IMG_2069IMG_2074

Moo-ing to the cows. : )
IMG_2071

There was no delay in bringing out the Christmas decorations this year.
20161125_111613

The day after Thanksgiving we started setting up stuff. Lots of stuff. : )IMG_207820161125_113452

Charity and Abbie scored on their Christmas shopping excursion. Lot’s of goodies hidden in those bags. : )
IMG_2089

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and feel like Christmas…
it’s supposed to be 10°F with a 35mph N wind this weekend! That’s just plain cold.

Family Pictures Sneak Peak

Dec
07

We took our annual family pictures this November. So here is a little sneak peak before we post our Christmas newsletter.

These prep pictures always seem so awkward. Blank stares, hair being fixed, nephews to make happy, diapers to be filled, etc.DSC_0089
These are some proud grandparents! It was quite the ordeal to get the little guys to look and smile at the camera. Lots of weird faces and strange sounds. I think that it was more entertaining to the adults then it was to them.
DSC_0123DSC_0315DSC_0317DSC_0329
I love my family! A LOT!
DSC_0331DSC_0086DSC_0341

Taking pictures went well…until it came to the brothers. I think we were harder to get to be serious than trying to get the nephews to smile at the camera.
DSC_0350DSC_0351DSC_0352DSC_0358

As the term goes, “boys will be boys”. I think we fulfilled that pretty well.
DSC_0360DSC_0361DSC_0364DSC_0357DSC_0366
At the end, I think we only got one good picture, but had a lot of laughs! I will say that I appreciate my brothers more than they probably know. They have impacted my life tremendously for Eternity! Love ya bros!DSC_0368

//Camping 2016

Nov
11

Our annual family camping trip was going to be canceled again this year. : (
This time it was because Dad couldn’t get off work. We were going to settle for all being together at the house for the weekend like last year…but, Dustin and Hannah wanted to go camping…so, they made a plan, and those who could,
went camping earlier in the week. : )

The start of the camping crew.
IMG_1715

It was 80° on Wednesday. Perfect for getting a little wet in the lake.
IMG_1728

It’s so much fun to watch Evan take in and learn all the little things of life.
IMG_1730

Everyone came for the wiener roast on Wednesday night. : )

Benjamin bought donuts for the next morning. By his drawings on the box
I think he was just a little excited. : D
IMG_1758IMG_18221

Thursday we started the day off with hiking.
IMG_176420161013_103944IMG_1782IMG_1792IMG_1805IMG_1796

There are all kinds of unique creatures, if we’ll just take the time
to stop and enjoy God’s amazing detailed creation.
IMG_1798IMG_1788IMG_1791

How many people does it take to figure out a plan?
IMG_1800

Dustin and Maggie took an unbeaten path adventure. : )
They had fun climbing up crumbling rocks and ended up with a good view of the lake.
2IMG_0558

Playing Dominion in the back of the truck.
IMG_1838

As you can tell, we went for EASY on the food for the trip.
We had just started eating, when it began to rain, again…
IMG_1857

…So, we ended up piling inside the biggest tent to finish eating, and then
we watched a movie. IMG_1869

Mmmmm! Nothing like food cooked over an open fire!
IMG_1873

My packing buddy. : )20161014_103423

On Friday we packed up, went home, unloaded, and then some of us started the weekend party with a good game of Power Grid.
20161014_172427

Caleb’s shirt he was wearing says, “I never dreamed I would be a super cool uncle,
but here I am killing it”. Yep, you sure are.
20161014_172507

A group game of Catch Phrase. Then a movie.
IMG_1881

The late night partiers. (if that is even a word.)
IMG_1889

Mom and Charity did most of the cooking for the weekend. It was a fabulous spread.
IMG_1890

Saturday we had a two team obstacle course/relay race…
…over the picnic table, under the bars, jump rope 5 times, get a bean bag in the bucket, balance backwards down the board, fill the lower bucket up from the top bucket, then ring the bell for the next person to go.
IMG_1894IMG_1918IMG_1920IMG_1909IMG_1891IMG_1914

Once your whole team made it through, your team had to make it to the finish line by working together to always be standing on a rug. This is the team that won!
IMG_1925

Next event was the Burnett Family Bean Bag Toss Tournament.IMG_1957IMG_1948IMG_1986

It was so much fun to just BE with the whole family for the weekend. : )
IMG_1985IMG_2010IMG_1993

Now that’s one cool dude!
IMG_1999

The winners of the tournament! IMG_2008

More games, food, movies, and fun!
IMG_2014IMG_2015

We are so blessed in our family to not only be brothers and sisters,
but to be brothers and sisters in Christ!

be the will of God.”

October Recap – Lot’s of fun memories!

Nov
03

No, it can’t be. October is gone. Done. Over. History. Wow!

Here’s a little glimpse into our lives during the month of pumpkins, chai tea, jackets, beginning of Thunder basketball season, hunting season… AKA October.

This is Benjamin with a squirrel that he…I want to say accidentally hit with a rock…but he was trying to hit it, he just didn’t mean to hit her square on the nose and knock her senseless! But she did recover and continued to drive our dog crazy!

IMG_1804

Dad, Mom and Grandpa attended our cousin’s wedding.IMG_3094

Hunting season is looking good! Caleb has shot 2 deer and this is Benj’s first deer of the season! It was a doe…till he got up close to it then…oh…um…it has antlers! IMG_6938FullSizeRender

Lots of venison for the freezer!

DSC_0673-2

Maggie and Mom got to go to the last pre-season OKC Thunder game. It was a first for Maggie and I think it’s safe to say she LOVED it!

IMG_1853

Like last year, some of us drove to Arkansas for the annual craft shows there. But we didn’t just craft shop…we hit as many thrift stores as we could too! And boy did we find bargains! We were so happy Hannah and Evan got to come along for the fun.

1015151300-00IMG_1843IMG_1832

Maggie has been working part time at a daycare for the past 2 months and just loves her little kids! And yep, they like her just a little bit too!

0930151001-01

Our uncle had a “get together” at his house…We played lots of volleyball, rode 4-wheelers, roasted wieners, ate s’mores, held babies, played basketball, watched the OSU game…

IMG_1347IMG_1306IMG_1312IMG_1345IMG_1341IMG_1332

Some of us went to OKC for a Protect Life and Marriage rally. It was really good!

IMG_1868IMG_1867

And this little guy just continues to grow up so fast! If you get a chance, you’ve got to ask him his animal sounds! Especially a deer, frog, snake and monkey! :)

Phil 2:13-15

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world…”
