::January recap::

One more year and Mom will have all “adult” children!…First things first, Benjamin turned 17 this last month! Happy Birthday Benjamin! You bring laughter and thoughtfulness wherever you are! We are so grateful you are in our family!

For his birthday dessert mom made him a Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake…Boy howdy, that was some GOOD stuff!

Benjamin has a weakness (maybe it’s a strength) for fried chicken…and Maggie definitely makes the best around!

Does this not make your mouth water just looking at it?! It was scrumptious!

Carinna and Dad smoked some homemade summer sausage again this year!
It sure is yummy!

Look who got to go to an OKC Thunder game!

Eric is growing so fast, and his personality is showing more and more. Carinna has been helping Dustin and Hannah flip a house they bought. She comes home tired and just a little dirty. But you can’t beat good ‘ole hard work! : )

We sure love that Granny lives so close!
Granny will beat you in most games…but at least you get an ice cream bar. ; )

Abbie and Maggie do a whole lot of this when they’re home!

It’s hard to get quality time with people when everyone is going different places and doing different things…so, sometimes to spend time with them you just have to go along. : D Like, Abbie went with Hannah and Evan to Hannah’s midwifery appointment for a check up on the baby boy who is due in one month!…

…Carinna went thrift store shopping with Mom!…20170130_172222

…and Maggie went with Carinna to do some animal chores for some friends. Sometimes in a big family the best place to catch up with someone and talk about  life is in a vehicle!
It happens ALL the time around here…
"I thought so and so were back?  They are, but they’re still out in the car talking.” : D

Abbie and Benjamin started a tradition several years back…if it snows enough they build a funny snowman. You can find their other one’s here and here. : D : D
Even though Abbie had tons of homework, she still made time to go have some fun with Benjamin. : )

I think spring is a little early this year y’all!

There’s almost always a warm front that comes in in January, and I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the 70-80° weather!
One week we had 0° with snow, several days later it was 80° with short sleeves! : D

More time in the car…on the way to a wedding up by the panhandle of Oklahoma.

The sunset was gorgeous on the way back!!!

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3

Sometimes in the busyness of life it takes a whole lot of intentional actions to keep your mind stayed on Him and trust God! But if you will, you will have perfect peace in the middle of all the chaos.
And that pretty much sums up the Burnett’s first month of the year!

Compilation of pictures…

As we update, we somehow, always end up with a few pictures
that for some reason or another aren’t privileged enough
to have their own post, so…you get ‘em all together. : )

The snow/ice stuck around for a few days. We okie wimps got tired
of being inside, so we got out and enjoyed a walk together.

With all the snow melting and refreezing, a huge icicle
formed on the edge of the house. Benjamin claimed the prize.

Caleb took Maggie to a Tim Hawkins concert. VIP tickets! : ) They enjoyed it.

Seven years ago, the Cabreras hosted our family in Mexico.
To say the least, we were super excited when they stopped by for a short visit!

We had a blast catching up, and hearing what God is doing in Mexico!

We had a grand time with two of the Linzey girls!
It had been 8 years since they had been to our house…yikes!!!

The weather has been perfect for Model T rides!Model T rides are a must!

We all enjoyed Elisabeth’s intriguing stories/pictures
from her 4 month stay overseas!

The time was filled with talking, laughing, recommending books,
sharing spiritual struggles/victories, talking, a Model T ride,
talking about how to relate with siblings, a tour of our changed house,
talking…you get the idea. It was a blessing.

Dad and Mom went to a belated western themed Valentines dinner
with the couples from church, and a few long time friends.

With spring here we’ve been really enjoying the lovely weather!
( More on that in a future post : D)

Oh, and for those of you who don’t know…
getting to share life with a twin, is amazing!

Grandpa, Maggie, and I went fishing at one of Grandpa’s ponds.
We had fun even if we didn’t catch anything!

Heidi also got to test out the water for the first time.
Lets say, she definitely got her paws wet! ; )

Speaking of Heidi…she’s just over 4 months old now.
She is learning fast, and in my opinion…has gotten a whole lot cuter.

Jeremiah 9:23-24
“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me,
that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness,
in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”

What Do You Do With An Inch of Snow??

…you go out and build a snowman of course!!DSC_0076DSC_0063DSC_0074

As you can see by the mud and patches of grass, it wasn’t quite enough to make any snow ice-cream, because it would’ve looked like chocolate ice-cream by the end. =) The only one who would enjoy it would be our poor hungry snow man. =) =) =)

Last weekend we drove up to the city, put our free tickets to good use and went ice-skating downtown for Benjamin’s 15th birthday!

These poor Okies aren’t professionals by any stretch of the imagination, but do manage to have a lot of fun once we can pry ourselves away from the side wall and skate on our own. =)

Random update in the life of the Burnett’s

It is exactly one week till spring…and boy does it feel like it!

The peach trees are just about to bloom!

Charity and I planted some onions and lettuce a couple weeks ago…

Benjamin and I transplanted three five year old peach trees several weeks ago. They were in the way of the new add on. Hopefully they’ll survive!

Some of the Dornink’s came down for a bit the end of February…

Playing Pit!!! It got super loud. :D

Hannah and Melody

Playing Baseball

Benjamin and Josiah

We went down to see my Great Aunt Frieda before she moved to Colorado the beginning of March.

Poor deprived Benjamin, all he has is a pair stilts for skis.
Very creative idea though!!!

And last but not least here’s how the add on is going…They broke ground!!!

Happy Spring Ya’ll!
