Peach Festival Pictures

Hey ya’ll – well, we did it again!! Made and sold out of 40 gallons of homemade ice cream by early afternoon! It definitely takes the whole family and a lot of team work to accomplish that. :)

Carinna, Maggie, and Abbie each entered the peach cook-off. The twins took first and second place in the teen category! Unfortunately, Ab’s entry didn’t place anything in the adult category, but we sure thought it should have. :)

The cook-off contestants

Ab's entry
Abbie’s Cinnamon Peach Dessert Sandwiches: Crunchy cinnamon sugar grilled toast with creamy peach filling. She made this recipe up on her own, and we didn’t have any complaints for being her taste testers!

Sorry, we didn’t get a close up of Maggie’s Peach French Toast – it was a delightful combination of French toast, peaches, and a crumbly caramel mixture, and took 2nd place!

Carinna's peach cookies
Carinna’s Peachy Cookies: No, these are not candied peaches! This unique recipe consists of two cookies “glued” together with a peach jelly filling (resembling a peach pit), and then rolled in various jello powders to create the rosy peach colors! Pretty cool, huh? Carinna took 1st place with this artistic creation.

Rebel, Okie, and Old Glory - a southern trio :)
Flag trio – “it’s a southern thang!” ;)

Our booth! Everybody had their own “job” and did excellent.

Ice cream freezers
We had 6 ice cream freezers constantly rotating. This year, we actually did a pretty good job of keeping up with the crowd!

We’ll say it again – people LOVE THIS STUFF!! We greatly admire the many customers who stood faithfully in line under a scorching, hot sun to get a cup of cold, peach ice cream.

We finished the day completely exhausted, but very happy! Meeting all the different people who came through was so much fun. We even met people from Texas who found our blog, read about the peach festival, and stopped by on their way through Oklahoma! :) Praise the Lord for His blessing on our successful day, and we pray that He was glorified.

Going to the rodeo that night was a great climax, but we’ll have to share that report with you in a couple days, so stay tuned!

Fireworks, Peaches, & Rodeo!

Jul
12

Well folks, we’ve had so much going on around here, we thought we’d give you a little update. :)

Because of the county burn ban, we couldn’t shoot off fireworks, so we went to the Pauls Valley park to watch theirs. It was the classic, all-American, 4th of July celebration! Everyone was spread out on the football field with their lawn chairs and picnic blankets, vendors were selling hamburgers and other good stuff, and there was a general, happy spirit of excitement. :) Once the sun set and the stadium lights were turned out, everybody laid out and ooh-ed and aah-ed over the dazzling fireworks while patriotic music played away! We were filled with pride and love for our country and grateful for all those who have given and are giving their lives to protect our freedom. I love America!!! We are unspeakably blessed. Thank You, Lord!

"And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air..."

Cousins
A couple of our cousins joined us for the firework show…we had a grand time, as usual. Yay for cousins!! =D

This time of year also brings another festivity to celebrate in our area…

The 35th annual Stratford Peach Festival is coming up this Saturday, July 16th!

Preparations for our homemade peach ice cream booth are well under way – it takes a team!

Cutting up peaches

Now, we can’t let the leftover, golden juice go to waste…

Such a beautiful color...

…so, jelly it becomes!

Peach jelly

Y’all are welcome to come on down and join us for the fun day! Of course, it’s going to be scorching hot, but if you have to endure the heat anyway, why not be enjoying a cup of cold, homemade peach ice cream while you’re at it? ;) Better hurry down, though, because we usually sell out soon after lunch!

Our main goal is to let the Lord’s light shine through our testimony as we work together and interact with people. Please be praying!

Oh, and don’t forget we have a rodeo, too. It’s become tradition for our family to go on Saturday night after a long day’s work of selling ice cream. We’ve got the “rodeo itch” and look forward to some good calf-ropin’, barrel racin’, and bull ridin’!! Yeeehaaaawwwww!

Pictures to come! =)
